La presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo mentioned that she is unaware of whether Luisa María Alcalde Luján will leave the presidency of Morena, as stated in the Bajo Reserva column of EL UNIVERSAL on Monday, April 13. During her morning press conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum Pardo praised Alcalde Luján as a millennial with ‘strong convictions’ and a ‘hard worker.’ She stated, ‘I am not aware of any changes in the party (…). I greatly appreciate the work of Luisa María.’ Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Sheinbaum reiterated the call for government officials who are interested in running as candidates to step down from their positions. She stated, ‘Those who work in the government and want to participate as candidates must leave the government. You cannot be a public servant and a candidate at the same time (…). You cannot do both things simultaneously.’
